Until the government announcement on 31st October, about a second lockdown, we were planning to hold 'A Weekend of Remembering' for the whole community on 7th and 8th November.

Download a POSTER here.

The following services, planned to take place in church on Saturday and Sunday, have been postponed, cancelled or changed:

Saturday 7th November
2pm and 4pm - Remembering Those We Have Loved - Postponed
We will hope that it's possible to organise these services for nearer Christmas.

Sunday 8th November
8am - Holy Communion - Cancelled
10am - Remembrance Day Service. This service will now take place solely by Zoom. The link is here. Please subscribe to the enewsletter to receive the link to Zoom services and all the latest news.

Events

As it was not going to be possible to get as many into church this year, we were inviting the community to be involved in different ways …

Open Church
The church building will be open from 10am-3pm every day from 2nd -15th November. The building will remain open at these times for private prayer, at least until 15th November and possibly beyond.

Poppy Field
We are aiming to create a poppy field! 400 large poppies have been made for staking into the grass in the churchyard. Poppies will be made safely available in the church (open as above), for you to pick up, write your own name or message on if you would like to, and ‘plant’ them in the churchyard. We hope the end result will be a spectacular symbol of remembrance, now even more important because the Remembrance Day service cannot take place as it should.

Memory Tree
The Memory Tree will remain in church. Pick up a wooden leaf in church or make your own, write your special message of remembrance on it and hang it on the tree. This is especially for those who have lost loved ones, this year or in recent years, to Covid or for any reason.

‘This Year’ Exhibition
Large display boards are now up in church. They are for everyone to display our feelings about, and memories of, the challenging year we're having. Please bring your photos, paintings, poems, stories - and put them up for everyone to share.
